Our Project

The McIntosh Trail long-term care Ombudsman Program and its Advisory Council developed and initiated the Stardust Ball and Dinner Dance in 1992 for residents from area nursing homes and personal care homes, area senior citizen centers, and other older adults in the community.  This event, held for the past 16 years, has brought enjoyment to the participants and brings long-term care Residents and the community together to provide each with a sense of the other to help dispel negative views and attitudes of long-term care residents and the life they live.   As soon as the dance is over, Residents are calling to fine out the date for the next year.  This event serves approximately 200 persons each year.  The Ombudsman program has fund raising events to assist in providing this annual event.
