Our Mission
Improving
the lives of our Long-Term Care Nursing Home, Personal Care Home and Community Living Home Residents through issue
solutions and projects focusing on their care and quality of life.
The Reason We Serve
Many programs for the elderly and other residents of long-term care facilities provide
minimal services. The McIntosh Trail Ombudsman Program in Georgia has worked for over 16 years to provide advocacy for
daily concerns and extra necessities for Residents of nursing homes, personal care homes, and community living arrangements
for the developmentally disabled. Long-Term Care Residents, as all citizens, have the right to life, liberty and
the pursuit of happiness. Ombudsmen strive to ensure those rights are not violated. The McIntosh Trail Ombudsman
Program and its Advisory Board, through the MTHCEG/StarDust Foundation, provide extras beyond daily health care... we think
of it as quality of life care.
The People We Serve
The McIntosh Trail Long-Term Care Ombudsman
Program provides services to individuals in Nursing Homes, Personal Care Homes and Community Living Arrangement Homes,
serving the elderly and/or disabled as well as developmentally disabled and mental health Residents. The Ombudsmen visit the area facilities to assure the Residents are receiving proper care and that
their rights are not being violated. The McIntosh Trail Ombudsmen cover seven counties, visiting approximately 105 facilities,
serving over 2000 Residents.
Services Provided
The funds raised by the Foundation assists Residents in obtaining new teeth, hearing aids, glasses, clothes, hair &
nail care, special or updated equipment, etc. It also provides two annual community activities: The StarDust Ball and Dinner
Dance every spring and a Winter Holiday Luncheon (with Santa Claus and the trimmings) each December.
